Abstract
Priming is an alternative technology on submergence stress for direct seedling in tidal swamp. The objective of the research was to know the responses of rice and priming on submergence stress during seedling phase. Priming and soaking time is well known for defending submergence stress in wetlands. The research was conducted in April - June 2016 on a soaking tub and in plant physiology laboratory of Plant Cultivation Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. The research was designed in split-split plot with soaking treatment as the main plot, which is 0 day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days, 9 days of immersion. Genotype is a sub plot that varieties ciherang and Inpara 7. Sub-sub plot of priming including without priming , hydro priming, osmo priming, nutrient priming. Total of 40 unit and by 3 repeating. The results showed that the effect of priming on submerging was significant in height, number of leaves, leaf color and dry weight. Nutrient priming indicated rice seedling grew better compare to other priming methods. Submerging of 5 days was the longest that rice seedling tolerance of priming methods. Variety of inpara 7 was more tolerated compare that of ciherang in submerging.
