Abstract

The increasing demand for efficient and environmentally friendly alternative energy sources has driven the development of renewable energy-based power generation technologies. One such innovation is the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) of the radial type, which offers advantages such as high efficiency, compact design, and no need for external excitation. This study aims to design and analyze the performance of a radial-type PMSG through theoretical calculations and simulations using MATLAB software. The design involves a rotor configuration with 12 neodymium magnets and a stator with 12 coils, each consisting of 60 turns of copper wire. Theoretical calculations indicate an induced electromotive force (EMF) of 40.68 V at a rotational speed of 500 rpm, while simulation results show an EMF of 40 V. The obtained voltage regulation is 15.4%. The minor difference between theoretical and simulation results indicates that the simulation model accurately represents the system's real behavior. For verification, an experimental test was conducted, showing a lower voltage output than the simulation due to practical factors such as reduced rotational speed, mechanical losses, and assembly imperfections. Overall, this generator shows potential for application in small-scale renewable power generation systems, such as wind power plants.
