Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Representasi Kehidupan Setelah kematian dalam Video Musik "Gala Bunga Matahari". Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji representasi kehidupan setelah kematian dalam video musik Gala Bunga Matahari karya Sal Priadi, menggunakan metodologi kualitatif, yang memandang objek secara dinamis berdasarkan konstruksi pemikiran dan interpretasi terhadap fenomena yang diamati. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis semiotika Roland Barthes, yang menganalisis makna tanda melalui tiga tahap, yaitu denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Dalam menganalisis, peneliti menggunakan juga kajian budaya media, hal ini di lakukan karena dalam penelitian ini akan melihat kematian melalui kacamata budaya populer. Melalui pendekatan media visual, analisis difokuskan pada 4 scene yang menggambarkan pengalaman emosional dua tokoh utama pria tua dan Gempi dalam menghadapi kematian dan kehidupan setelahnya. Bunga matahari muncul sebagai simbol sentral yang merepresentasikan cinta abadi, kesetiaan, dan harapan, menjadi penghubung antara dunia yang ditinggalkan dan dunia setelah kematian. Video musik ini menampilkan narasi visual tentang bagaimana kedukaan, kehilangan, dan kematian dapat dijalani dengan damai dan penuh makna, menantang stigma masyarakat yang sering memandang kematian sebagai hal yang menyeramkan. Visualisasi planet asing berwarna abu-abu, transformasi usia tokoh, serta penggunaan warna dan simbol memperkuat makna bahwa kehidupan setelah kematian bukan akhir, melainkan kelanjutan dari cinta dan kenangan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa video musik sebagai produk budaya populer memiliki potensi besar dalam membentuk persepsi masyarakat terhadap isu-isu eksistensial, seperti kematian, serta menawarkan perspektif baru yang lebih humanis dan penuh harapan.
