Abstract

Students residing in dormitories frequently encounter distinctive adaptation challenges, including the absence of familial support and the demands of independent living. These challenges necessitate the development of robust emotion regulation and resilience skills. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between emotion regulation and resilience in dormitory students of Xaverius 5 Belitang High School. The quantitative approach employed is a correlational design. The interpretation of data is facilitated by the implementation of the Pearson correlation technique. The findings of the present study demonstrate a substantial positive correlation between emotion regulation and resilience (r = 0.412, p < 0.001). Conversely, students with higher emotion regulation abilities exhibited higher levels of resilience. This finding underscores the significance of enhancing and cultivating emotion regulation skills to bolster the resilience of boarding school students. The practical value of this study lies in its contribution to the development of psychological intervention programs that target the enhancement of emotion regulation skills. These programs aim to assist dormitory students in coping with prevailing psychological pressures, thereby fostering the potential of individuals to confront and recuperate from circumstances that impede their mental well-being.
