Abstract
Health problems in children are still a concern both health problems due to infectious and non-communicable diseases. Health problems due to infectious diseases in children under five years are one of them is pneumonia. In South Sumatra Pneumonia is one of the biggest causes of children under five years mortality, namely as many 6 children under five years or 0.05% of children under five years was die because pneumonia. Based on data from Karya Jaya Health Center, the incidence of pneumonia in Karya Jaya at 2018 the incidence increased to 44 cases. This research purposed to analyze the risk factors of pneumonia in working area of Karya Jaya Health Center. This research uses case control study with a total sample 42 cases samples and 84 control samples. The analysis conducted were univariate analysis, bivariate analysis, used chi-square and fisher exact, and multivariate analysis used logistic regression tests. The results of multivariate analysis have known that the dominuan variables related with incidence of pneumonia is birth weight variable has been control by gender, immunization history, history of exclusive breastfeeding, nutritional status, history of vitamin A, mother’s education, overcwording, and family smoking habits (ORadjusted= 8,771; 95%CI= 2,310 – 33,306). The suggestion from this study is to increase health education efforts related to risk factors for the incidence of pneumonia, especially the importance of food intake, especially pregnant woman.
