Abstract

Chronic kidney failure is a condition of decreased kidney function that is in the final stage. One of the causes that affects kidney damage is caused by hypertension. This study aims to analyze the relationship between hypertension and the incidence of chronic kidney failure in Indonesia. Using a cross-sectional study of secondary data from the 2023 SKI which conducted multistage random sampling and this study conducted non-SRS purposive sampling with a final sample of 638.178 respondents. The results of the analysis showed that 0,2% experienced chronic kidney failure based on a doctor's diagnosis and 8,0% experienced hypertension based on a doctor's diagnosis, the prevalence of hypertension sufferers experiencing chronic kidney failure was 0,8%, multivariate analysis of multiple logistic regression showed that there was a significant relationship between hypertension and the incidence of chronic kidney failure in Indonesia (P-value = 0,0001; PR = 4,973; 95%CI = 3,871-6,389) after being controlled by diabetes mellitus, smoking habits, consumption of sweet foods, alcohol consumption and gender. The government should maximize the socialization and implementation of the utilization of free medical check-up programs on birthdays, especially for at-risk groups, for example, hypertension patients, diabetes mellitus, and vulnerable groups such as those aged >40 years.
