Abstract
One of the main needs and aspects that affect human life is water. Water is an important necessity and plays a major role for living creatures in this world. Every region certainly has various water problems, both in terms of quantity and quality of water in that region. Water is divided into two types, namely groundwater and surface water. Research in the Indralaya Mulya area will discuss groundwater, which comes from wells. This study aims to determine the potential and quality of groundwater in the Indralaya Mulya area and its surroundings using field observation methods such as well observation, local geological conditions, pumping tests, infiltration tests, and water sampling for laboratory analysis to assess water quality. In terms of local geological conditions, the Indralaya Mulya area and its surroundings have two formations: The Kasai Formation (QTk), which has lithology consisting of silt and tuffaceous sandstone, and the swamp deposit formation (Qs), which has lithology consisting of mud, silt, and sand. During the well observations conducted, 13 well sites were identified, which were measured based on well diameter, well depth, groundwater level, and well rim height. and seven groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis. The purpose of the laboratory analysis is to determine the physical and chemical parameters, as well as the bacterial content of the water. The next observation was an infiltration test conducted at seven observation points, aimed at assessing the permeability and soil type in the study area. A pumping test was also conducted at 3 observation points to determine the water yield or transmissivity (T) and storage coefficient (S) values. The transmissivity value also allows us to determine the potential of groundwater for irrigation and domestic use. Subsequently, groundwater flow analysis was conducted to determine whether the groundwater in the area flows in the same direction as the septic tank of the house, which could affect the water if it is contaminated by the septic tank or not. Based on the observations, calculations, and analysis of the water, it will be concluded whether the water is suitable or not to be categorized as clean water. If the groundwater conditions in the area do not meet any of the physical, chemical, or bacterial parameters, the water is not suitable for use as clean water, and preventive measures must be taken to avoid future health issues.
