Abstract

This research aims to analyze the morphometric variation of Strombus turturella (gonggong snail) collected from two distinct locations, namely Bangka Island (Kelabat Bay) and Dompak (Riau Archipelago), and to examine its contribution to enhancing numeracy literacy in high school biology education. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach by measuring nine morphometric parameters: weight, shell length, basal length, aperture length, shell width, body whorl width, aperture width, spire height and around the shell. The results revealed significant differences in morphometric characteristics between the two populations. Gonggong snails from Dompak Island were found to be larger and showed a tendency toward positive allometric growth, while snails from Bangka Island exhibited positive allometric patterns and smaller in size. Environmental factors such as substrate type and food availability are presumed to influence these differences. This research contributes to the development of numeracy literacy-based learning materials, particularly in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD) for biodiversity topics in high school biology. The findings align with the values of the Pancasila Student Profile and the principles of contextual learning in the Merdeka Curriculum.
