Abstract
THE INCREASE IN AMMONIA LEVELS PERSIST IN SNAKEHEAD CULTIVATION, PARTICULARLY IN BIOFLOC SYSTEM. ISOLATION OF BIOFLOC MICROORGANISM AS BIOAUGMENTATION IS ONE OF THE SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY. MICROALGAE IS ONE OF THE BIOFLOC COMPONENTS THAT CAN REDUCE AMMONIA. THIS STUDY AIMED TO OBTAINED MICROALGAE FROM SNAKEHEAD CULTIVATION MEDIA WHICH HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO REDUCE AMONIA AND PRODUCE SEVERAL ENZYMES.THIS STUDY USED A COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED DESIGN (CRD) FOR REMEDIATION CHARACTERIZATION WITH 2 TREATMENTS AND 3 REPLICATES WITH CONTROLS IN THE FORM WASTE WATER OF SNAKEHEAD CULTIVATION WITHOUT THE ADDITION OF ISOLATE (P0) AND WASTE WATER OF SNAKEHEAD CULTIVATION WITH THE ADDITION OF ISOLATE 1 (P1). MICROALGAE ISOLATION STAGES INCLUDE SAMPLING, ISOLATION AND PURIFICATION, MICROALGAE SELECTION, PROPAGATION ON SOLID MEDIA AND LIQUID MEDIA, MICROALGAE IDENTIFICATION AND REMEDIATION CHARACTERIZATION.THE OBSERVED PARAMETERS INCLUDE MICROALGAE GROWTH, MICROALGAE SPECIFIC GROWTH RATE, LYSIS ZONE DIAMETER AND WATER QUALITY. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT ISOLATE 1 (P1) WAS IDENTIFIED AS MICROALGAE Chlorella sp. WHICH HAD THE LYSIS ZONES ON PROTEOLYTIC AND LIPOLYTIC MEDIUM AND WAS BE ABLE TO REDUCE AMMONIUM LEVEL TO 28%. ISOLATE 1 WAS BE ABLE TO INCREASE PH FROM 6.0 TO 8.2 AND DISSOLVED OXYGEN FROM 5.8 MG L-1 TO 5.9 MG L-1 ALONG TO REDUCE TDS FROM 1332 TO 723 MG L-1 AND AMMONIA FROM 3.87 MG L-1 TO 1.94 MG L-1 IN WASTE WATER OF SNAKEHEAD CULTURE.
