Abstract
Porous composites have been recognized as one type of engineering material that has many pores in its structure which is formed by the combination of two or more forming materials and has different characteristic than its forming component. The usage of composite has been growing rapidly since the composite has own advantages compared to other altemative materials such as energy absorbing capacity, thermal properties, weight and unique soundproofing properties. These features are particularly attractive in applications in the transportation industry, automobile industries, airplanes and railroads as well as biomedicine. Another important application is as a heat insulator or as a heat exchanger. However, because the manufacture of porous composites on average using a high enough cost then conducted fiirther experiments and research. This research is conducted by the author using the method of powder metallurgy using three variations of space holder material that serves as a pore forming on porous composite composites such as green bean powder, sweet potato powder, and rubber powder eraser. The X-Rayflourenscence (XRF) was used to determine the aluminum content used, Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA) to determine the decrease of mass space holder, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to find the crystallis phase formed, compressive strength to know the properties of mechanical strength as well as observation of micro cavity of aluminum by using Elctron Microscopy Scanning tool (SEM).
