Abstract
Currently motorbike vehicles use several types of Pertamina fuels including pertalite and pertamax. The type of fuel used affects the performance of the engine. Motorcycle performance can be knovvn ffom the torque produced. To find out the torque of a motorcycle, a measurement method is used using a prony brake. Prony brakes are carried out without dismantling the engine from the motorbike so that it can facilitate testing. Tests were carried out to determine the difference in motor performance against pertalite and pertamax fuels by testing specific torque, power and fuel consumption. Tests were carried out on the Yamaha Mio Soul motorbike in 2009 using the Prony Brake system. The test data is to vary the engine speed of 3000, 3500, 4000 and 4500 rpm, and the fuel used is 5 ml. The engine speed is set at 3000 rpm, load the prony brake and tighten and adjust the prony brake arm in a balanced State against the rotation. Record the rotation and load given. After getting the appropriate load data, proceed by calculating the time to spend as much as 5 ml of fuel on the round. From the results of the study showed torque using pertamax fuel (5,493 Nm) and pertalite (4,561 Nm) at 4500 rpm. Pertamax fuel torque is greater than pertalite fuel around 15.34%. Pertamax fuel power (2587 kW) and pertalite (2,148 kW) at 4500 rpm. Pertamax fuel power is around 16.33% compared to pertalite. Pertamax fuel efficiency is 32,488% and pertalite is 19,20%. The thermal efficiency generated using pertamax fuel is about 19.20% higher than using pertalite fuel. Pertamax fuel shows a lower specific fuel consumption of around 13.07% compared to
