Abstract
Tuming in the manufacturing industry is used for making products in the big quantities so it is required the monitoring of machining conditions. Tuming is a metal forming process by reducing the dimensions of the workpiece is rotating. At the tuming process there are several parameters that must be considered like a feeding, cutting speed, depth of cut and geometry of the chisel. Ali these parameters greatly affect the end product, such as surface roughness and geometry of a product. Quality of tuming is generated by adjusting the combination of these parameters. If the grater depth of cut so the cross-sectional area snarled formed will be greater so that the cutting force increases. Changes Cutting force reflect changes in the machining process parameters, such as cutting speed, feeding, depth of cut and condition of machine tools. Thus accuracy machining operations can be improved through feedback cutting force. Determine the forces in machining process is so important, because to increase the quality of machining process result takes the high accuracy. Cutting forces that react to chisel and workpiece will result in bending. Although this bending was very small but enough to be a cause of the fault geometry of the product. Cutting force which is produced by tuming process has three kinds, they are tangential force, axial force and radial force. The tangential force, the force that is produced in the direction of cutting speed. The axial force, the force that is produced in the feeding, And the radial force, the force which is its direction towards to the normal field in the cutting speed. The tools used to measure the cutting force is dynamometer. This study is limited in the cutting speed and feeding that is used for getting the value of the specific cutting force using CCD (Central Composite Design) that has been done for 12 times testing. High and low of the cutting speed and feeding are used greatly affect the value of the specific cutting force. Cutting speed and feeding give positive effect on the value of specific cutting force which is produced, where the increase in cutting speed of 61.72 - 118.28 m / min and feeding of 0.1293 - 0.2707 mm / rev will decrease the value of specific cutting force which is derived from the machining process, In this test, the result is a percentage specific cutting force with cutting speed varied with constant feeding is (23.5%) and feeding varied with constant cutting speed is (35%). feeding is known to have a dominant contribution to influence the value of the specific cutting force. Greater the value of the cutting speed and feeding are used so the value of the specific cutting force will be smaller, Smaller the value of the cutting speed and feeding so the value of specific cutting force will greater. In the literature, the results of the specific cutting force reference is 1500 N/mm2. In this test, the result of the specific cutting force reference is 1456.2 N/mm2, with deviations is (2.92%). Key Words: Tuming, Cutting Speed, feeding, Specific Cutting Force. Specific Cutting Force Reference
