Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui tingkat kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian survei. Teknik pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah dengan skala psikologis model likert, dengan jumlah 45 item pernyataan yang disebarkan kepada 34 responden dari kelas VIII yang dipilih secara acak dengan teknik sampel random sampling. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan cara statistik dengan bantuan MS. Excel for Windows 2007, yaitu dengan mencari Rata-rata (mean) dan standar deviasi (simpangan baku). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kecerdasan emosional dalam siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan berada pada kategori sedang dengan hasil persentase akhir 79%.
