Abstract

Rangkui River in Pangkalpinang city has been shallovv due to sediment deposition. The sillalion causes the arca around the flovv of Ihe river bccome arca ol prone lo fiooding and harm the surrounding community, therefore, the handling ol Rangkui River silation is needed. Before thal, the flow of Rangkui River must be analyzed firsl. One of the vvays is through this study which aims to determine the sediment condition, the total sediment transport rate, and the eriteria of sediment Ioad in Rangkui River. In this study, basic material samples were tested by using analysis granular testing to know vvhcther the condition of sediment in Rangkui River is fine sand. Based on the sample test in the field, it is knovvn that the sediment transport rate in the upstream part vvas 2,894 kg/s; the sediment transport rate in the ccnlcr part was 3.055 kg / s; the sediment transport rate in downstream part vvas 2.045 kg/s; and the average of the sediment transport rate in Rangkui River vvas 2.664 kg/s. The method of empirical equations used in the analysis of total sediment transport rates vvas by using Yang’s method, Shen and Hung method, and Engeiund and Hansen method. In this calculation, the most appropriate method vvas Yang method vvith a difference index (IP) of 16.86% against the value of the sediment transport rate in the field. Based on the calculation using Regulation of the Minister of Forestiy of the Republic of Indonesia no. 60, 2014, it vvas obtained that the value of sediment load of Rangkui River was 19.87 tons/ha/year which means that the qua!ification of recoveiy high. was Key words : Rangkui River, Sillation, Total Sediment Transport Rate, Sediment Load
