Abstract
Preparedness is a series of activities that are conducted to anticipate disasters by organizer and do appropriate steps effectively and efficiently. The gas station industry sector has a high risk of accidents because it deals directly with combustible materials. In observation at the three gas stations in North Indralaya sub-district, small fire which have caused property losses happened. This research is purposed to analyze the factors related to SPBU operator preparedness in dealing with fire hazards at North Indralaya sub-district gas stations. This research used quantitative methods, with a crossectinal approach. The population in this study were 49 gas station operators in North Indralaya sub-district. The number of sample in this study was 46 SPBU Operators in North Indralaya sub-district using proportional cluster sampling technique. Data is collected by questionnaire from respondents. The result showed that the level of preparedness of SPBU operator was not ready 52.2%. The results of bivariate analysis using Chi Square with α = 0.05 showed that there was a relationship between age (p value = 0.000), tenure (p value = 0.000, facility (p value = 0.000), and training (p value = 0.000) on preparedness in efforts to deal with fires at gas stations while gender (p value = 0.360) were not statistically correlated. The conclusion was not all gas station operators had readied in the face of fire. Researchers suggest that SPBU managers provide fire simulation training to all gas station operators and periodically check firefighting facilities in order to improve SPBU operator preparedness to face fires.
