Abstract

This study aims to analyze how social mmedia buzzers, particularly on the Instagram platform, play a role in shaping public opinion ahead of the 2024 South Sumatra gubernatorial election.Using a corpus-based discourse analysis approach, this research examines the frequency, collocation, and concordance of words used by buzzers in comments spread across social media, as well as classifies the sentiment of each utterance that appears. The research design is mixed-method, combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data were collected from various Instagram accounts identified as affiliated with gubernatorial candidates and analyzed using corpus linguistics software to extract textual data and discourse patterns. The findings indicate that buzzers play a significant role in disseminating political messages, both explicitly through supportive comments and implicitly through covert campaigns.Furthermore, the study found that buzzers tend to use anonymous or blank accounts and coordinated comments to steer certain opinions, thereby potentially influencing public perception of the candidates. This research offers a theoretical contribution to the fields of political communication and corpus linguistics and provides practical insights to promote digital literacy and strengthen oversight of political activities in digital spaces Keyword:Buzzer,Instagram, and election
