Abstract

THE EFFECT OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) ASSISTED BY QUIZIZZ APPLICATION ON MOTIVATION AND DIGITAL LITERACY IN TENTH GRADE BIOLOGY STUDENTS ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the extent to which the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the Quizizz application influences learning motivation and digital literacy of tenth-grade students in Biology subjects at SMA Negeri 18 Palembang. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample was determined using purposive sampling, with class X-6 as the experimental group (36 students) and class X-4 as the control group (36 students). Data were collected through tests and questionnaires. The results showed that the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by the Quizizz application did not have a significant effect on students’ learning motivation or digital literacy. The t-test results indicated significance values greater than 0.05 for both variables, meaning that, partially, neither learning motivation nor digital literacy influenced student learning outcomes. Furthermore, the F-test result with a significance value of 1.000 (> 0.05) confirmed that both variables simultaneously had no significant effect on learning outcomes. Thus, it can be concluded that although PBL assisted by Quizizz can create more interactive learning, its implementation in this study was not proven effective in improving students’ learning motivation or digital literacy.
