Abstract

Non-Communicable disease are the main cause of death globally. One of the non-communicable disease of concern is hypertension. Not only that, at the global level, hypertension is a problem that is quite a concern, especially in the city of Palembang, South Sumatera. It is known that cases of hypertension in Palembang city in 2017 found 6973 cases. Karya Jaya Health Center Palembang is one of the public health service units where it is known that hypertension cases occupy the first position for non-communicable diseases. This research aims to analyze the determinants of the incidence of hypertension in the community in the working field of Karya Jaya Health Center in Palembang. This study used Cross Sectional study design with population of > 18 years old who were married and residing in the working field of Karya Jaya Health Center, where the sample in the study was 150 respondents who were obtained from calculation using a two-proportion hypothesis test formula. Data analysis was carried out namely univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using Chi Square test, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression with predictive test models. The results of multivariate analysis showed that variable associated with the incidence of hypertension were stress variables that had been controlled with variable of obesity, age, coffee consumption and family history. Variables that do not have a relationship with the incidence of hypertension in the community in working field of Karya Jaya Health Center are variables of employment status, smoking status, and gender. Suggestion from this study are to improve the implementation of counseling activities, as well as other activities that support the improvement of people’s lifestyle in working filed of Karya Jaya Health Center in Palembang.
