Abstract

Malignant melanoma is a malignancy of cells that produce pigments (melanocytes), usually in the skin but also found in the ears, digestive tract, eyes, mouth, genital mucosa, and leptomeningens. The incidence of malignant melanoma has increased by 4-6 % each year especially in the white population. This research method is descriptive observational with cross sectional design using secondary data in the form of medical records of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang 1 January 2016 – 31 July 2019 as a research subject. The incidence of malignant melanoma in the Anatomy Pathology Department RSMH Palembang in 2016-2019 was 0.5%. Out of the 36 study subjects, the most subtype was nodular melanoma (N = 16, 44.4%). Age category 46-55 years is the most number that suffered melanoma maligna (N = 12, 33.3%). Women is greater than man for about 52.8% (N = 19). Malignant melanoma is most common in the group of indoor workers (N = 24, 66.7%). The most common distribution of malignant melanoma is in the skin (N = 20, 55.6%).The incidence of malignant melanoma in the Anatomy Pathology Department RSMH Palembang in 2016-2019 was 0.5% with the highest proportion occurring in 2017 was 0.22%. Malignant melanoma is mostly found in women. Age category 46-55 years is the most number that suffered melanoma maligna. Malignant melanoma mostly found in the group of indoor worker. The most common subtype is nodular melanoma.
