Abstract

Background: Hodgkin lymphoma is a malignancy originating from mutant B cell lymphocytes, classified into classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) and nodular lymphocyte predominant hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL). The development and aggressiveness of tumor cells influenced by tumor microenvironment. TAMs and TANs are components of tumor microenvironment, contribute to development and growth of tumor cells. The high density of TAMs and TANs significantly influence disease growth. The aim of this research was to analyse correlation density of TAMs and TANs with clinicohistopathologic characteristics of patient. Methods: This study was carried out using a case series method. The samples were paraffin blocks fromHodgkin lymphoma patients at Anatomic Pathology Department Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sriwijaya/ RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. From 44 cases of Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosed from 1stJanuari 2015 to 30th October 2019, only 31 cases were considered. Immunohistochemistry was performed using anti-CD163 antibody and neutrophils were identified by morphologic appearances, and the results were correlated to characteristic factors. Statistical analysis was performed using Spearman test and Lambda test with significant consideration if p < 0,05. Results: The study results showed 30 cases of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) and 1 case of NLPHL. CHL has only 3 variants LRCHL (58,1%), MCCHL (25,8%), dan NSCHL (12,9%). Hodgkin lymphoma is most commonly found in males (61.3%), tumor location were the most found in the head and neck, and most in the age group 20-29 years, 40-49 years, and dan 50 year. Spearman test showed there was a significant correlation between density of TAMs with ages (p=0,043). Conclusion: High density of TAM was correlated with age and there was no correlation between TAN and clinicohistopathologic characteristics of Hodgkin lymphoma.
