Abstract

Background: Low back pain is the most common musculoskeletal complaint suffered by workers and the most common cause of disability related to work trauma. The aim of this study was to determine the relation of working posture and working hours with disability of low back pain in songket weavers in Palembang. Method: This type of research is observational analytic with cross sectional design using purposive sampling technique. The subjects of this study were 29 weavers in Sentra Kain Tenun Tuan Kentang. Primary data includes sociodemographic identity and working hours were obtained through interviews. Work posture data is obtained through direct observation then documented and quantified by RULA score. Low back pain disability was measured using the Oswestry Disability Index questionnaire. Data analysis was performed with Spearman test on SPSS applications. Results: Spearman’s correlation analysis results for work posture and NPB disability obtained rho r value of 0.475 and p value = 0.022. While the results of Spearman’s correlation analysis between working hour and NPB disability obtained r = -0,370 and p = 0.904. Conclusion: There is a relationship between work posture and disability of low back pain in weavers in Palembang. However, there is no significant relationship between working hour and disability of low back pain in weavers in Palembang.
