Abstract
This study aims to describe the mathematical concepts contained in the Palembang songket motif based on its philosophical meaning, as well as its application in learning mathematics to see student responses. The subjects of this study were Songket and Palembang 9 Middle School students. This research is a qualitative research with ethnographic approach, the research instrument is human instrument where the researcher acts as the main instrument whose role is to collect data through library data (literature study), interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of realistic mathematics learning uses the context of Nago Besaung's motives on reflection material, and uses the context of Berante's motives on translational material. The results show that students' responses to aspects of feeling happy or unhappy gained an average score of 97.4, classified in the positive category that students feel happy. For aspects of new lessons or not just obtained an average score of 106.57, classified in the category of very positive responses that the learning is new for students. For the aspect of being interested or not interested, an average score of 96 is included in the positive response category that they are interested in. Finally, for the aspect of being interested or not interested, an average score of 98.67 was obtained, belonging to the positive response category that students were interested in learning realistic mathematics using Palembang songket ethno context.
