Abstract
Background: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (LES) is a complex autoimmune disease that can cause inflammatory reactions that can affect bone density and increase the risk of osteoporosis. The inflammation process that occurs in LES patients can restore their activity by calculating the MEX-SLEDAI score which can indicate the severity of the disease. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between the LES activities with bone density in lupus patients association in Palembang. Method: This type of research is a correlative analytic study with cross sectional research design. The sample of this study were all LES patients who were members of the Palembang LES Association who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique by conducting interviews using a questionnaire, examining bone density with ultrasound bone density, and laboratory examinations. Results: From 35 study subjects, there were 32 female patients (91.4%) with a maximum age range of 31-35 years totaling 10 people (28.6%). Most found 14 people (40%) with normal BMI, 19 people (54.3%) mild LES activity, 18 people (51.4%) with normal bone density. After the Somers'D correlation test, strong and significant positive correlation results were obtained (r = 0.542, p = 0,000). Conclusion: There is a strong and significant positive correlation between MEX-SLEDAI scores and bone density in LES Association in Palembang.
