Abstract

Latar Belakang: Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) merupakan strain Staphylococcus aureus yang mengalami mutasi genetik yang dapat ditularkan melalui kontak dengan tenaga kesehatan. Mahasiswa kedokteran berinteraksi dengan tenaga kesehatan dan kontak dengan pasien sebagai bagian dari pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan kolonisasi MRSA pada mahasiswa kepaniteraan klinik dan mahasiswa preklinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional terhadap 94 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya yang terdiri dari kepaniteraan klinik dan preklinik yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil swab nasal yang diuji di laboratorium menggunakan metode polymerase chain reaction. Hasilnya dianalisis dengan uji chi-square. Hasil: Bedasarkan uji statistik didapatkan sebesar 5 (10,6%) mahasiswa kepaniteraan klinik dengan kolonisasi MRSA dan 4 (8,5%) mahasiswa preklinik dengan kolonisasi MRSA. Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara mahasiswa kepaniteraan klinik dan mahasiswa preklinik berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan polymerase chain reaction (p=1,000). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan kolonisasi methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya menggunakan metode polymerase chain reaction.
