Abstract

Background: Cervical cancer is a malignancy caused by persistent infection of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Before the onset of cancer, HPV infection begins with the entry of mutagens that can change cell characteristics genetically and over time the cells will become malignant. Cells that have mutations are called Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (NIS) or cervical precancerous lesions. Not all pre-cancerous lesions will develop into invasive lesions, so it is recognized that there are still quite a lot of influential factors. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of predisposing factors with the incidence of cervical precancerous lesions in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from June 2017-June 2019. Methods: This type of research is analytic observational research with case series research design. Patients with cervical precancerous lesions who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria as many as 32 patients were taken as samples with a total sampling technique. Data was collected by observing medical records, then analyzed using the Contingency coefficient correlation test. Results: Study participants comprised of 20 patients (62,5%) who were diagnosed with LGSIL (Low Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion), 21 patients (65,6%) aged ≥35 years, 25 patients (78,1%) had 1-time marriage history, 22 patients (68,8%) had no history of contraceptive use and 24 patients (75,0%) had a history of parity >3. After conducting the Contingency coefficient correlation test, the variable that has p<0,05 is marital history. While the variables that have p>0,05 are age, contraception, and parity history. Conclusion: In this study, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between marital history with cervical precancerous lesions. Whereas age, contraception, and parity history did not have a significant correlation.
