This study is conducted to determine the prevalence and risk factors of allergic rhinitis in children 13 – 14 years old in several junior high schools around the factory and urban areas in Palembang. Method: This study is a descriptive observational study, with a cross sectional design, with cluster random sampling technique followed by purposive random sampling. The study population is the students 13-14 years old at SMP Negeri 5, 10, 28 and SMP Baptis Palembang . The variables used are sex, history of asthma, atopic dermatitis, family history of atopic disease, factory smoke exposure and air pollution. Bivariate analysis result shows exposure to cigarette smoke and air pollution has associated with allergic rhinitis p = 0,000 (p <alpha).
