Abstract

The Solar Power Plant (PLTS) converts energy from sunlight (photons) into electrical energy through a photovoltaic process. Monocrystalline panel is claimed to have the highest efficiency compared to Polycrystalline and Thin Film up to 18%. The output power produced by solar panels is very dependent on the characteristics of temperature and also the intensity of solar radiation. Therefore research is needed on the effect of the intensity of solar radiation and temperature on the output power and efficiency of Monocrystalline solar panels using Datalogger based on Arduino and Pyranometer. The Datalogger has voltage tolerance percentage 0,025% and temperature tolerance percentage 0,08%. The daily graph shows the intensity of solar radiation and panel temperature linear to the panel output power, as evidenced when the data dated May 5, 2019 when the peak temperature of 39.25°C produced a peak power of 50.03 watts with a peak radiation intensity of 339.4 W/m2. Efficiency increased along with temperature rises until it reach optimum temperature 60°C, above the optimum temperature efficiency decreased. After measurement and calculation, it was found that the maximum efficiency that can be achieved by Monocrystalline solar panels is 16.86% when the radiation intensity received is 1079 W/m2 and the panel temperature is 57.38°C.
