Abstract

HIV/AIDS is one of sexually transmitted diseases that continues to experience a percentage increase in cases in the world. HIV/AIDS can be transmitted through risky (unsafe) sexual intercourse. One of key populations at risk of contracting and transmitting HIV/AIDS is a group of high risk potential men, namely through their sexual behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between HIV/AIDS information exposure with sexual behavior. This study is a Cross Sectional design study with a sample of 4260 people. The results showed that there are 68,2% who engage in risky sexual behavior. The result of bivariate analysis shows that HIV/AIDS information exposure (p-value 0,025), age (p-value <0,0001), education level (p-value <0,0001), marital status (p-value <0,0001), perception of contracting HIV/AIDS (p-value <0,0001), availability of condoms (p-value 0,049), HIV/AIDS prevention attitude (p-value 0,035), alcohol consumption before sex (p-value <0,0001) have relationship with sexual behavior. Multivariate analysis indicate that there is a significant relationship between HIV/AIDS Information exposure and sexual behavior controlled by perception of contracting HIV/AIDS, knowledge level, prevention attitude, availability of condoms, alcohol consumption before sex, marital status, education level and age with (p-value 0,024; PR 1,320; 95% CI 1,037-1,680). From this research, it is expected for the government to improve the implementation of prevention and control program of HIV/AIDS in order to decrease the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among high risk potential men.
