Abstract

Tuberculosis or TBC is still a dangerous infectious disease today. Since 2014, the number of TBC cases on children at Palembang has increased every year. Until 2017, TBC cases on children at Palembang amounted to 724 cases. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the incidence of tuberculosis on children at Palembang in 2019. This research used a quantitative design with a case control approach. The number of samples was 94 people. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. The analysis technique was done by Chi Square Test by analyzing data in univariately and bivariately. The results of the analysis showed there was a significant relation between parental education (p = 0.034), parental income (p = 0.011 OR = 3.321), smoking habits of family members (p = 0.027), contact history (p = 0,000 OR = 10,818), living room lighting (p = 0.019), bedroom lighting (p = 0.034), living room ventilation (p = 0.001), bedroom ventilation (p = 0.024 OR = 3.200), living room humidity (p = 0.006), bedroom humidity ( p = 0.020 OR = 2.985), and occupancy density (p = 0.005). The age factor and BCG immunization are not related to the incidence of tuberculosis on children. The conclusion of this research is all variables there are eleven significant related variables and two variables that are not related to the incidence of tuberculosis on children at Palembang in 2019. It is expected that the Palembang City Health Office will activate and intensify health education related to TBC in children .
