Abstract

EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK N-HEKSANA DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera L) DALAM MENGHAMBAT PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Streptococcus mutans Siti Firdha Bimariska Program Studi Kedokteran Gigi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya Latar belakang. Kerusakan gigi penduduk Indonesia masih tinggi. Salah satu mikroorganisme yang dapat menyebabkan karies gigi adalah bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Streptococcus mutans mempunyai kemampuan menghasilkan asam sangat cepat. Kecepatan pembentukan asam oleh bakteri Streptococcus mutans berhubungan dengan terjadinya karies gigi. Ekstrak daun kelor dilaporkan memiliki sifat antibakteri karena daun kelor (Moringa oleifera L) mempunyai kandungan bahan aktif seperti flavonoid, alkaloid, tanin, dan saponin. Belum ada penelitian mengenai Ekstrak n-heksana daun kelor yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutan. Tujuan. Mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak n-Heksana daun kelor (Moringa oleifera L) dengan konsentrasi 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20% dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Streptococcus mutans. Bahan dan metode. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental murni secara in vitro. Kelompok positif menggunakan siprofloksasin; kelompok perlakuan menggunakan ekstrak n-heksana daun kelor dengan konsentrasi 5%,10%,15%,20%. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan difusi agar (Cakram Kirby-baurer) dengan analisis data annova dengan kelompok lebih dari 2 tidak berpasangan yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc. Hasil. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak n-heksana daun kelor dengan konsentrasi 5%,10%,15%,20% tidak menunjukkan adanya daya hambat. Kesimpulan. Ekstrak n-heksana daun kelor dengan konsentrasi 5%,10%,15%,20% tidak memberikan efek antibakteri terhadap Streptococcus mutans. EFFECTIVENESS OF KELOR LEAF N-HEKSANA EXTRACTS (Moringa oleifera L) IN REMOVING THE GROWTH OF Streptococcus mutans BACTERIA Siti Firdha Bimariska Dentistry Study Program of Medical Faculty Sriwijaya University Abstract Background. Tooth decay of the Indonesian population is still high . One of the microorganisms that can cause dental caries is the bacterium Streptococcus mutans . Streptococcus mutans has the ability to produce acid very quickly. The speed of acid formation by Streptococcus mutans bacteria is associated with the occurrence of dental caries . Moringa leaf extract is reported to have antibacterial properties since d aun moringa (Moringa oleifera L) have active ingredients such as flavonoids, phenolic compounds, alkaloids, tannins and saponins. There has been no research on Moringa n-hexane extract which can inhibit the growth of mutant Streptococcus bacteria. Aim. Knowing the effectiveness of Moringa oleifera L n-Hexane extract with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans. Materials and methods. The type of research used was pure experimental in vitro. Positive groups use ciprofloxacin; the treatment group used Moringa leaf n-hexane extract with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%. Antibacterial activity testing using agar diffusion ( Kirby-baurer disc ) with annova data analysis with more than 2 unpaired groups followed by the Post Hoc test. Results. The results showed that the Moringa leaf n-hexane extract with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% did not show any inhibition. Conclusion. Moringa n-hexane extract with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% did not provide an antibacterial effect on Streptococcus mutans.
