Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) explain that iron deficiency anemia is the most common cause of anemia in pregnancy and reflects the increased need for iron in pregnancy. Supplementation during pregnancy is the key to interventions to decrease anemia in pregnancy, but compliance is a major problem in this intervention program. This study used 2014 IFLS data. The target population in this study was pregnant women of childbearing age, the source population was WUS who were on 5th IFLS household, and the study population was WUS who had given birth in IFLS 5 with a sample of women with the first or last child born in 2013-2015. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional study design and obtained a sample of 1923 respondents who were in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Research data analysis used a complex sample analysis consisting of three stages namely univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The results showed that non-compliance of Fe tablet consumption was found in 1226 respondents (63.8%). The visit frequency variable of Antenatal Care (ANC) visit was the most dominant variable that affecting the compliance of Fe tablet consumption after being controlled for work status, residential area, family income, family type, and chronic health problems (PR: 4,661; 95% CI = 3,620- 6,502). Education needs to be done for health workers to carry out service excellence, health education and counseling is needed not only for pregnant women but husbands / families. Health services also needed to make supervision programs, through family and cadre-based tablet fe monitoring books to increase awareness and compliance of mothers in consuming tabet Fe.
