Abstract

Childhood is a period of growth and development that parents must pay attention. One of the nutritional problems is waste with the assessment of anthropometric index body weight (BB / TB) or weight according to body length (BB / PB). This research is to find out the factors that are related to the incidence of toddlers who are wasted in poor households in Indonesia. This study used IFLS 2014 data with quantitative research with a cross sectional study design and sampling using multistage random sampling. The The results showed that the prevalence of wasting toddlers in Indonesia in 2014 was 8.8%. Based on multivariate analysis, the most dominant and modifiable variable riwaya infectious disease affected the incidence of under-fives (PR = 1,699; 95% CI = 1,332-2,167). While the most dominant variable which cannot be modified which influences the incidence of under-fives is the education of mothers with low education (PR = 0,440 95% CI = 0,335-0577) and secondary education (PR = 0,532 95% CI = 0,458-0615). Factors that are simultaneously related to the incidence of toddlers are wasted, among others, gender, maternal job, infection, and exclusive breastfeeding. Researchers consider avoiding wasting the need to pay attention about eating good food in terms of food or food for balanced health and doing good food hygiene practices.
