Abstract

This research is titledfamily raft house occupant strategies in meeting the needs of life in the River Musi Palembang City. This research aims to knowing obstacle and titled family raft house occupant strategies in meeting the needs of life. As for the concept of thought in this study uses the concept of adaptation of John Bennet who human ability in describing a change, drafting plans in accordance with the changes more then do the anticipation. This research uses qualitative methods with strategy case studies. Data collection techiniques used in this study in depth interviews, observations and documentations. Data analysis techniques used in this research are interactive analysis models that include the reduction of data, the presentation of data and the with draw all of the conclusion. The results of this research are the families of residents of the raft house on the edge of the Musi River in the city of Palembang adding some complexity, namely (1) difficulties in meeting basic needs, strategies undertaken and making an adaptive business with a place to live on the river, working side by side and supporting the role of family members (2) limited business capital, strategies undertaken utilizing social networks,saving production costs and minimizing labor (3) needs of residential facilities, strategies carried out using the best materials, replacing damage periodically and making MCK facilities (4) clean water needs and electricity, the strategy needed to buy gallon water, forMCK to maximize river water and connect neighboring electricity and create prepaid electricity bills.
