Abstract
Dehuang merah (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A.Chev.) Is an ornamental plant that is used as traditional medicine to treat diarrhea. The result of literature study is that dehuang merah leaves consisted of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenolics, terpenoids, amines, glycosides and triterpenoids which have the potential to be antibacterial. This research was conducted to obtain secondary metabolites that have antibacterial activity from their endophytic fungi which was initiated by isolating endophytic fungi from dehuang merah leaves followed by cultivation. The harvesting is done at the sixth week by extracting the medium from the fungus. Ethyl acetate extract derived from the medium then is being done multiple tests such as antibacterial test against Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis. The secondary metabolite inside Ethyl acetate extract with strong activity category (BD1) is divided and purified using chromatography technique. Pure compound that is successfully being retrieved has the form of white crystal (42 mg). The pure isolated compound retrieved is being measured by spectroscopy methods, which include UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMBC and HMQC. According to data analysis spectroscopy and literature data, the isolated compound is one of mono-substituted aromatic group with chemical name 4-hydroxy-5-phenylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl acetate.
