Abstract

This study examines "The Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in Addressing and Preventing Forest and Land Fires in South Sumatra (Study in the Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Selatan." The problem in this study is to see and analyze the role of WALHI in efforts to mitigate and prevent forest and land fires in South Sumatra and wanted to know what obstacles WALHI SumSel had in carrying out its role in overcoming and preventing forest and land fires.This study used a descriptive qualitative method.The technique of data collection was done by interview observation and documentation.This study used the Role theory of David & Julia. The results of the study show that there are several roles of WALHI Sumsel in the prevention and prevention of forest and land fires in South Sumatra and there are some obstacles that WALHI SumSel has in carrying out its role. The role played by WALHI Sumsel is advocacy and campaigns on the prevention and prevention of forest and land fires. While the obstacles obtained by WALHI Sumsel are external and internal obstacles.
