Abstract
The body can lose fluid when adapting to hot temperatures in the work environment by excreting excessive sweating. Excessive sweating can interfere the physiological function of the body if it is not balanced with the consumption of fluid and replacement electrolyte. Fluid requirement to be consumed every day is from 2.5 to 3 liters. When the body loses fluid without being accompanied by consumption of replacement fluids for a long time, it will cause the urine to be concentrated (supersaturation), a small amount of urine, a change in urine pH and a reduced of inhibition factor which will then form crystals in the urine. This study aims to analyze the influence of heat on the production section of work environment towards the occurrence of urine crystallization in CV Alumunium Mandiri Palembang. This research is descriptive analytic research with cross sectional design. The sampling technique with simple random sampling obtained 35 people. The research data were obtained from the results of questionnaires, interviews, temperature measurements in the work environment and laboratory analysis to the parameters of observation. The results showed a prevalence of urine crystallization in the amount of 22.9% toward workers. The influence of heat on workers who are more than 8 hours in a hot environment with the p-value is 0.013, working period (p-value: 0.039) and consumption of drinking water (p-value: 0.018). While there was no relationship towards the age variable (p-value: 0.091). Therefore it could be concluded that urine crystallization was not related to age but was influenced by the temperature of heat in the work environment, working period and consumption of drinking water. It is recommended for workers to drink 250 ml of water every 30 minutes and to avoid the consumption of coffee during the break time.
