Abstract

This thesis is entitled the Authority of the Provincial National Narcotics Agency in Achieving Law Enforcement against Narcotics Crimes in South Sumatra. The condition of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking now reach an alarming level and threatens all aspects of national and state life. The problems to answer referred to the following questions : How the Authority of the Provincial National Narcotics Agency implemented the Law Enforcement against Narcotics Criminal Acts in South Sumatra Province, How the Agency coped with the narcotics abuse, and What Action Plan the Agency had in coping with the Narcotics Criminal Acts in the future. The study used empirical normative and the primary and secondary data were analyzed descriptively and deductively. The results of the study showed that the National Narcotics Agency of South Sumatra Province had the authority of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Eradication. The Prevention and Empowerment Authority were carried out through information dissemination efforts and prevention activities through Advocacy and Rehabilitation Sector as the main objectives of the type of Treatment; the Eradication was conducted with Forced efforts in the form of Arrest, Detention, Confiscation by BNN Investigators. The Action Plan included the activities of the Campaign for Anti-Narcotics, Education, Religion, supervision of evening entertainment venues, and the supervision of the distrbution of illegal drugs.
