Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of self-compassion towards rumination on adolescent with divorced parent. The hypothesis of this study is self-compassion has a role toward ruminations on adolescent with divorced parent. The participant of this study is 200 adolescent aged 10-21 years old with divorced parent. Sampling is done by using purposive sampling. Participants completed measures of self-compassion and rumination. Self-compassion scale refers to components of self-compassion from Neff (2003b), rumination scale refers to components of rumination from Treynor, Gonzalez dan Nolen-Hoeksema (2003). Statistical analysis using simple regression analysis showed R square = 0,569, F = 261,073 and p = 0,000 (p < 0,05). Consistent with the hypothesis, the result showed significant role of self-compassion towards rumination.
