Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a role for conformity towards prejudice among the public regarding legislative members. This study hypothesizes that there is a role for conformity with the prejudice of the public regarding legislative members. Participants in this study were 200 people of Palembang City who already had the right to vote and for the trial as many as 70 Palembang City people who already had the right to vote. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling technique. This study uses two scales as a measuring instrument, namely the scale of conformity and the scale of prejudice that refers to the components of prejudice from Aronson, Wilsom & Akert (2014) and the basics of conformity from Baron and Byrne (2005). Data analysis uses simple regression. The results of the regression analysis showed R square = 0.098 and p = 0,000 (p <0.05). This shows that conformity has a significant role in prejudice. Thus the research hypothesis proposed can be accepted and the effect of conformity on prejudice is 9.8%.
