Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between personality trait extraversion and social curiosity in emerging adulthood. This study hypothesizes that there is a relationship between personality trait extraversion and social curiosity in emerging adulthood. Participants in this study were 150 emerging adulthood from the age of 18-25 years who lived in the city of Palembang. The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique. This study uses two scales as a measuring tool, namely the personality trait extraversion scale which refers to aspects of McCrae and Costa (2003) and social curiosity scale which refers to aspects of Renner (2006). The results of the research data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation method. The results showed that there was a relationship between personality trait extraversion and social curiosity in emerging adulthood with r = 0.200 and p = 0.014 (p <0.05). This shows that personality trait extraversion has a low, positive, and significant relationship with social curiosity. Thus the hypothesis proposed is accepted.
