Abstract

Background: The National Immunization Survey from 2004 to 2008 in the United States showed the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding by teenage mothers is only 19%. Whereas based on data from the OIC Health Office in 2015 in the working area of the Makarti Mulya Health Center, infants who received exclusive breastfeeding recorded 37%. This figure is certainly still far from the national target of 80%. This study aims to identify the behavior of adolescent-age mothers in exclusive breastfeeding in the Mukti Ogan Komering Ilir Village. Method: This study used a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews (indept interview), document review and observation. 16 informants consisted of Village Midwives, Posyandu Cadres, Husbands, Parents, and Adolescents who had 6-12 months of babies. Results: The results showed that all teenage mothers in Karya Mukti village Ogan Komering Ilir did not provide exclusive breastfeeding. Several reasons were stated, as breast milk does not come out, milk production is not smooth, and the assumption from the public that the milk produced was not good. This is also influenced by supporting factors that prevent mothers from giving exclusive breastfeeding, namely cultural factors, the low support of the immediate family and understanding of mother's knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding.. Recommendation: The behavior of teenage mothers who are less supportive in giving exclusive breastfeeding in the Village of Karya Mukti Ogan Komering Ilir. So the need to increase knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and the application of regulations regarding 10 steps to the success of breastfeeding. For the government, it is better to expansion of information both to mothers and close mothers and restrictions on the promotion of formula milk. ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Survei National Immunization Tahun 2004 hingga 2008 di Amerika menunjukkan rendahnya pemberian ASI eksklusif oleh ibu usia remaja yaitu 19%. Berdasarkan data Dinas Kesehatan OKI pada tahun 2015 di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Makarti Mulya tercatat bayi yang mendapatkan ASI Eksklusif yaitu 37%. Angka ini masih jauh dari target nasional 80%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perilaku ibu usia remaja dalam pemberian ASI eksklusif di Desa Karya Mukti Ogan Komering Ilir. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara mendalam (indept interview), telaah dokumen dan observasi. Informan berjumlah 16 orang terdiri dari Bidan Desa, Kader Posyandu, Suami, Orang Tua, dan Ibu Usia Remaja yang mempunyai bayi 6-12 bulan. Hasil Penelitian : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua ibu usia remaja tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif. Beberapa alasan dikemukakan, seperti ASI tidak keluar, produksi ASI yang tidak lancar, dan asumsi dari masyarakat bahwa ASI yang dihasilkan tidak baik. Hal ini juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor pendukung yang menghambat ibu tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif yaitu faktor budaya, rendahnya dukungan keluarga terdekat dan pemahaman pengetahuan ibu mengenai ASI eksklusif. Saran : Adanya perilakau ibu usia remaja yang kurang mendukung dalam pemberian ASI eksklusif di Desa Karya Mukti Ogan Komering Ilir. Sehingga perlu meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai ASI eksklusif dan penerapan peraturan mengenai 10 Langkah Keberhasilan menyusui. Untuk pemeritah sebaiknya perluasan informasi baik terhadap ibu maupun orang tedekat ibu dan pembatasan mengenai promosi susu formula.
