Abstract

Dengue fever is a desease caused by dengue virus and it can result in death. Dengue fever transmitted to humans through aedes mosquito bites that invected by dengue virus. Base on dengue fever data in Tanah Datar district in 2017 and 2018, Lima Kaum 1 health center is the health centers which rank first highest incidence of dengue fever in Tanah Datar district with the incidence in 2017 as many as 36 cases and in 2018 as many as 41 cases. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between enviromental factors and community behavior towards dengue fever incidence. The research method used was observational research based on case-control and the retrospective approach with 123 samples consisting of 41 dengue cases and 82 controls (ratio 1:2). Data analysis performed was univariate and bivariate in the chi square test. The results of this research showed that the variable associated with the incidence of dengue fever is the presence of gauze wire (p-value=0,002; OR=3,621). Unrelated variables are the existance of larvae in the bathtub, habit of hanging clothes, knowledge and habit of using mosquito repellent. Base on research results concluded that the presence of gauze wire and the habit of doing 3M in the community who have been infected with DBD is a preventive measure to avoid DBD. rather than the habits of the community in the working area of the lima kaum health centre 1 who dont pay attention to the importance of the presence of gauze wire at home and 3M behavior. Therefore, it is necessary efforts from the health center to better socialize to public about the importance of presence of gauze wire at house ventilation and doing 3M.
