Abstract

HEALTH AND SAFETY / ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PUBLIC HEALTH FACULTY SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY Thesis, April 2019 Firka Sartika Factors Affecting Complaints of Irritant Contact Dermatitis in Citra Grand City Palembang Construction Workers xii + 57 pages, 20 tables, 5 pictures, and 9 attachments ABSTRACT Building construction workers are jobs that have a risk hazard, one of which is irritant contact dermatitis. Contact with substances caused by prolonged exposure to the chemical contained in cement materials, as is the case with construction workers Citra Grand City Palembang. The image and localization of the Grand City imagery has similarities with other irritant contact dermatitis complaints in construction workers, so that the existence of these complaints is of particular concern. The sample in this study was all 35 construction workers in Citra Grand City Palembang. Sampling method using total sampling technique. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The prevalence of workers who experience irritant contact dermatitis complaints in construction workers Citra Grand City Palembang was 54.3 %. The results of the bivariate analysis show there was a relationship between duration of contact (p-value 0,011), length of work (p-value 0,031) frequency of hand washing (p-value 0,030), and use of PPE (p-value 0,030) with irritant contact dermatitis complaints. This means that working long pe exposed to the cement building materials, who have long worked as a construction workers, who apply the practice to wash hands properly and using PPE are at risk of irritant contact dermatitis complaints.
