Abstract
BPTU-HPT Sembawa is a place for conducting maintenance, developing livestock breeds such as cows and chickens. Cattle farms accounted for the largest amount of ammonia gas at 43% and second poultry farms at 26%. Ammonia gas in the farm can be sourced from livestock manure, in 1 day cows can produce manure ranging from 8-15kg / head / day and chickens produce manure ranging from 0.1-0.15kg / head / day. Ammonia gas is formed from a process carried out by microbes that break down the remaining protein in animal dung. Ammonia can cause health problems both to livestock, workers and the community around the farm. This study aims to analyze the environmental health risks due to exposure to ammonia (NH3) in animal husbandry workers at BPTU-HPT Sembawa, Banyuasin Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with environmental health risk analysis and univariate analysis with 42 respondents from BPTU-HPT farm workers. The variables used in this study were NH3 concentration, intake rate, time of exposure, frequency of exposure, duration of exposure, body weight, average time period, Rfc and risk level. This study measured 7 points in 3 zones of livestock areas using the indofenol method using a spectrophotometer. The results of this study indicate that no NH3 concentration exceeds the standard quality value with the highest measurement value, namely at point 1 and point 2 in zone A of 0.0334 mg/m3. The average value of realtime intake is 0.00055 mg / kg / day. Ammonia concentration in Sembawa BPTU-HPT farms is still in safe concentrations where all respondents have an RQ <1 and for prevention efforts BPTU-HPT farms should measure ammonia gas in the air regularly to anticipate an increase in ammonia gas in the farm environment.
