Abstract

Stunting is a state of body that is short and very short to reach a deficit of -2 below the median length or height, which results in failure to reach a normal height and healthy according to the age of the child. This study aims to determine how the family's socioeconomic status and eating habits of children with stunting in the Work Area of the Pakjo Public Health Center, Ilir Barat District 1 Palembang City. This study uses a cross sectional design. The sample in this study was 117 toddlers in the working area of Pakjo Public Health Center. The technique of sampling is non random sampling). The method of data collection is done by interviewing through questionnaires and height measurements using microtoise. The results of this study indicate that the prevalence of stunting in toddlers is 35.9%. Family income factors show a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. Factors on the level of mother's education, level of knowledge of the mother, number of family members, and the level of nutritional adequacy of children under five showed no significant relationship. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that only the family income factor is significantly related to the incidence of stunting in Ilir Barat District 1, Palembang City. The suggestion of this research is that the government or related parties should create programs that focus on direct intervention for pregnant / lactating women and especially for children in the first 1000 days of life
