Abstract

Indonesian society consists of various tribes, religion and languages. Each ethnic group has special customs and culture that become its identitiy. This research was conduted to find out how to see social and cultural relations. The purpose of this research are to: (1) to analyze socio-economic achievement in terms of differences in the total income of rubber farmers focused on different ethnic groups of the javanese rubber farmers in Sungai Jernih Village and rawas rubber farmers in Sungai Kijang Village North Musi Rawas Regency, (2) looking at the level of prosperity of rubber farmers focused on different ethnic groups of the javanese rubber farmers in Sungai Jernih Village and rawas rubber farmers in Sungai Kijang Village North Musi Rawas Regency by analyzing wheter the total income of rubber farmers focused on different ethnic groups of the javanese rubber farmers and rawas rubber farmers are able to meet the standard of living needs (KHL) standards, (3) to describe socio-cultural achievement of rubber farmers focused on different ethnic groups of the javanese rubber farmers in Sungai Jernih Village and rawas rubber farmers in Sungai Kijang Village North Musi Rawas Regency. The result of the study show that: (1) the average total income of the rawas (local residents) rubber farming household in Sungai Jernih Village is greter than the average total income of the Javanese rubber farmers household, amounting to Rp1.604.988,31 per mounth while Javanese rubber farmers amounted to Rp1.447.436,50 (2) the average total income from the javanesee rubber farmers and rawas rubber farmers did not meet the KHL standard, (3) the KHL of Javanese and rawas famers household was not significantly different (real), (4) rawas tribe have a better work culture compared to the Javanese.
