Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries with a population structured towards old age, one of the many health problems because of the aging is hypertension. Data from the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office in 2018 stated that hypertension as the disease most suffered by the elderly with the number of 53,103 patients including 3,208 patients in Ogan Komering Ulu regency, therefore the role of the family is needed in fulfilling the quality of life for elderly people with hypertension. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the role of family and the quality of life of elderly people with hypertension in Ogan Komering Ulu in 2019. This research was a quantitative study using a cross sectional and qualitative design. The data were primary data obtained from the results in the field. This study had a sample of 40 elderly respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Data was analyzed by univariate, and bivariate, The results of the bivariate analysis showed that role of the family has a correlation with the quality of life of elderly people with hypertension from the psychological aspect p-value = 0.004, and social aspects p-value = 0.018.
