Abstract

This study aims to find out how the efforts of poor farmers in maintaining their survival. The usefulness of the research is expected to be information material regarding the strategy of poor farmers in the village of Teluk Jaya, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency in maintaining survival. Based on that, it is discussed in the formulation of the problem which covers how the poor in Teluk Jaya Village, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency in maintaining survival. To achieve these goals, the researchers used a qualitative approach on the basis of research, namely case studies and primary data sources through interviews, observation and other techniques. The research I used was a qualitative method, while the research location was in the village of Teluk Jaya, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency. The appointment is based because in this district many poor farmers tend to still experience poverty. In this research, the design used is a case study of the strategies of poor farmers in the village of Teluk Jaya, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency in maintaining survival, and the type of research used is descriptive. The results of this study which underlie the efforts made by poor farmers in maintaining their survival are saving costs, looking for extra income (side jobs), seeking debt loans, establishing a family and neighborhood system, getting help from the government, following social activities such as poor farmer groups, and utilize social institutions that aim to help poor farmers who have economic and social limitations. From the strategies they have carried out, it is proven that they can maintain the viability of the poor farmers and help all the problems and limitations of the poor farmers.
