Abstract

ABSTRACT Kartika Putri, Santi. “Planning and Design of Arts and Culture Center of Besemah in Pagar Alam City” Design Report, Bachelor, Architecture Engineering of Sriwijaya University, 2019. Pagar Alam City has great potential in the field of arts and cultural tourism. The City of Pagar Alam is also known as one of the Besemah tribal areas with various cultural heritages. There are various arts and cultural activities that still exist and continue to be developed, such as dance, speech, art, theater arts, fine arts, music, local traditional songs, furthermore various arts and cultural festivals organized by the government. Globalization is the most fundamental and very common issue that causes an art, customs and traditional culture to be increasingly eroded by the current of modernization. Therefore, to increase all potentials and protect the existence of arts and culture of the Besemah Tribe, an arts and culture center is needed as the facility that facilitates various protection and development activities. By using a neo-vernacular approach and considering the potential of the site and other contextual analysts to extract locality forms into efficient public functions in a new form so that the Besemah Art and Culture Center is expected to spearhead Besemah arts and cultural tourism activities, and be able to present Pagar Alam as Rena Besemah with various natural beauty, art, and culture.
