Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between online gaming addiction with academic procrastination in university student at South Sumatera. The hypothesis of this study there is a the relationship between online gaming addiction with academic procrastination. The population of this study is student who was addicted by online gaming on University X. The research sample was 61 from 370 screening respondent and 50 people for trial. Sampling was done by using sampling insidental technique. This research using screening which refers to the book of Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders : Fifth edition (2013)and two scales as a measuring tool, the online gaming addiction scale and the academic procrastination scalethat refers to aspects of academic procrastination from Tuckman (1991) andthe characteristic of online gaming addition from Lemmens, Valkenburg dan Peter (2009). For hypothesis testing using pearson product moment correlation. From the results analyze data there is a relationship between online gaming addiction with academic procrastination R=0,549, p=0,000 (p<0,05). Thus the proposed hypothesis is accepted.
